Time for another installment of What the F? If you read my previous post, you know that I’ve decided to challenge myself. For a long time, I’ve been shooting at the same aperture. It’s my safety net. I’ve never really pushed myself. Well all that is about to change. Last time I picked up my camera, set the aperture to F2 and headed to Target. This time, I set my camera to F1.8 and snapped some pictures while my daughter and I played in my bedroom.
I love these shots. Not just for the shallow depth of field but because they capture my daughter’s crazy personality. She can’t sit sill. It’s just not possible so shooting with such a narrow DOF was difficult. I came away with some out of focus shots because she was moving quicker than I could capture her, even with a super high shutter speed. Still, I was able to get some great images. This little exercise is really pushing me outside of my comfort zone and I love it.
